Parker Fadley is the main character in my book. She used to be perfect, but something terrible happened to make her crash, and be at her lowest. Through out reading, I have learned what happened that night. Chris (her boyfriend at the time) had a party, and Parker had a little too much to drink and made a total fool of herself. She gets very upset with her self and at Chris for letting her get to this point of embarrassment. I don't know all the details or why, but she ended up taking a bunch of sleeping pills while drunk, to kill herself.
Parker is now the total opposite of what she was before. She used to be friendly, kind, caring, and talkative. Now she's very rude, sarcastic and blunt. Parker has had to make alot of decisions from the start, when she was popular she had to decide the cheerleading routines, plan parties, and be the top student. Now she doesn't make such responsible and tough decisions, she just makes complicated ones that she'd rather not make. For example, Jake (the new kid thats determind to figure her out and who really likes her) asked her to go to the semi formal. She didn't want to go because of all the people that will be there because she hates crowded places. But she decides to go, because even if she wants to fight her feelings, she likes Jake too. Things got a little hot and steamy between the two that night. Parker made Jake promise that everything would go back to normal on Monday at school, and he did what he promised, but went a little over board, and ignored her the whole day. She knew going to semi was a bad idea.
Parkers flaws begin to show after the night of the party. She's now insecure with herself, depressed, and she has bad anxiety. Parker doesn't like being in rooms filled with people, especially people that know who she is, and what she's done. Once when she was in an assembly at school, she felt like everyone was looking at her. She also felt like all the air in the room was being used by everyone, leaving her no air to breath. She had to run out of the gym to find clean air to breath. This happens to her quite often.
Q: How can you relate to Parker Fadley? Have you had to make a hard decision that you regretted?

I can relate to Parker Fadley because I had to make a few hard decisions that I ended up regretting later on. We all make decisions that we wish we can take back but you have to get over them and learn from that mistake and not fall down that path again.
ReplyDeleteI think Parker is really self-conscious about every little decision that she makes. She seems like she wants to be in control of this situation with Jake, and maybe she wants to control it because she was so OUT of control at the party. Have I ever made bad decisions?? Oh ya, big time. I think reading books like this one makes you think about what you would do if you were in a similar situation, and if something like this ever comes up in our own lives, we can make the RIGHT decision (hopefully).
ReplyDeleteJake also makes it difficult for Parker, because he ignores her after they've been together. Yes, she tells him that she wants him to be 'normal' on Monday, but they obviously need to talk about what happened between them.
I think that everyone can relate to Parker. Everyone including myslef have made decisions that we regrett. Also there are many hard decisions in my life that i have made that i now look back and regrett, but everything happens for a reason.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to parker because I don't like to be in rooms filled with people that I don't know and/or don't like, for various reasons. I also have made bad desicions wether it be drinking to much or smoking to much.
ReplyDeleteI believe that everyone can relate to Parker because we all have flaws, and we have all had to make hard decisions that they've ended up regretting. I know that I have made alot of decisions that I thought were right at the time, but turned out bringing me down the wrong path and Ive had to straighten them out.. not fun but worth it in the end.
ReplyDeleteEveryone has made a bad desicion. Im with Krysta made some choices that seemed right but ended up being so wrong!
ReplyDeleteThose choices are something that you can only learn from. You learn from your mistakes
i agree with everybody else so far, everybody can relate with Parker because nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes that we regret. We just have move on and make the best of everything that is still to come, and just keep moving forward.
