She was perfect.
Cheerleading captain, girlfriend of the most popular guy in school, future valedictorian, and honour roll student.
But when Parker Fadley starts drinking at school, breaks up with her boyfriend, and failing her classes, everyone goes on alert. Parker just wants to be left alone, and talk to no one. Something horrible has happened to make her crash so bad, only she knows the truth, and it just might be her fault.
Parker tries to get through each day at school simply, but thats not so easy when your ex-boyfriend is still your friend, and your captain position on the cheerleading team is taken over by your... fake friend. The new kid Jake is determined to figure out what Parker is all about and might be falling for her. To make her life even more complicated her parents have put her on a suicide watch and she has to meet with Ms. Grey, the guidance counselor every Friday to talk about her week.
This novel keeps you hooked on the first page. Courtney Summers is a real, down to earth, and humorous author. I really like this book, it's impossible put it down. I can't wait to read on, and find out the truth about Parker Fadley.

Your book seems really good, I wouldn't want to put down the book either if it's that interesting. I don't know what Parker did to make her fall that low...perhaps her fake friend has something to do with it. Perhaps they were really close friends but now she got backstabbed.
ReplyDeleteI think Parker dated her to have sex, and her thinking that their perfect for each other and that they will be together forever. But shortly after having sex he probably dumped her because she has served her purpose to him as a toy and not a real girlfriend, who you should love and care for. So I think she is doing these things to try and cope with losing someone that she thought, was going to be together forever.

just kidding... I think drugs made her fall, it happens on all of those TV shows, (the OC for example). Drugs is always the break -> heroin maybe?

I would write an answer to your question but I would just be re writing what JON wrote. I agree with his statement.
This seems like an interesting story that some people could actually relate to. It seems like her whole life came crashing down all at once. I think that even though she is going through a lot, it is a good thing that she has new kid, Jake, who really cares about her and is so dedicated and determined to see what is wrong. Even though she is facing one of the biggest challenges of her life it is nice she has someone that she could talk to.
ReplyDeleteAs for what made her fall this low, it could be a lot of things but it was probably a secret about herself that she told her "fake" friend. Then her friend probably told everyone and ruined Parkers reputation.
I think that there are so many possiblities that could have brough her so low such as her ex boyfriend pushed into having sex (like jon said) with her and she felt uncomfortable with it, and not knowing what to do she resorted to drugs and what not, to deal with the uncertanty about the type of person he has become.Or even a possible death in the family.

ReplyDeleteDuring the novel sometimes the font changes, which is a flash back to the night at the party where everything went wrong for Parker Fadley.
Hopefully by the next blog, I'll know what happened :)
This sounds like a great book...hmmm...what could she have possibly done?? I think Jon is right. But maybe she cheated on something, or maybe she has a family secret that got out at the party. Another great book is called "SPEAK". It's about a girl who does something at a party, and then everyone turns on her and starts to hate her. She eventually stops speaking to everyone and literally shuts down. It's amazing how secrets can have such a huge affect on one's mental stability.

ReplyDeletemabe she could be doing hard drugs, or she could have slipped into a depression but either way she needs help.
